A central component of CapCon’s world view is that the best way to help others is to equip them with the tools to help themselves. It’s a philosophy we share with the Miller Center for Global Impact at Santa Clara University, and a key reason that we have offered our continued support to this organization for over a decade.

The Miller Center is a living example of how a market-based approach to solving pressing social problems can succeed spectacularly. Each year, they gather a cohort of exceptional social entrepreneurs to come to Santa Clara, California for the Miller Center In-Residence program. The organizations represented by these entrepreneurs are all working to improve the lives of people living in poverty by building women’s economic power and/or climate resilience in the communities they serve. Their proven model unites the talents and expertise of our executive mentors, world-class programs, the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley, and Santa Clara University’s heritage of social justice, community engagement, and global impact. The In-residence program is an intensive series of learning opportunities that can be customized to meet the particular needs of each social entrepreneur, with a mentor assigned to each for guidance along the way.

The Miller Center is focused on social enterprises working in the areas of women’s economic power and climate resilience for their disproportionate potential to eliminate poverty and the opportunities they provide to achieve outsized impact. By accompanying social entrepreneurs on their journeys to impact, they are committed to being part of the solution to end global poverty.

Our contributions to The Miller Center are in the form of grants as well as leadership provided by Stonecrest’s Founder, Principal Owner and President, Jon Freeman, who is a member of the Miller Center’s advisory board.
